Ovulation, Conception, And Getting Pregnant

Every month, the woman’s body gets prepared for pregnancy through the reproductive organs. However, in many cases, women are not aware of the exact day when they get pregnant. In this situation, the best gynaecologists in Kandivali will count the first day as the last day of a menstrual period.

Here when you talk about Conception, it is two weeks ahead of the first day of pregnancy when it happens. But before we move to what exactly is conception, understand what is ovulation.

Ovulation

Each month the women’s pituitary gland inside the human brain releases one hormone that tells the ovaries to produce fluid-filled cysts, also called follicles. With time when it grows, they secrete the hormone oestrogen, which thickens the wall of the uterus and makes the body prepare for pregnancy.

When there is the last day of the women’s menstrual cycle, the follicles stop growing except one, and that grows and nourishes to become a mature egg. This process usually happens about two weeks before the next cycle.

Conception

After that, the egg moves to the fallopian tube and stays there for 24 hours, waiting for single sperm for fertilization. But if there is no sperm to fertilize the egg, that egg will move through the uterus and disintegrate.

If the egg gets the sperm, they quickly merge and start making an embryo and various chemicals are released to stop other sperm from entering. During this process, the hormone called progesterone is released inside the bloodstream, helping to prepare the uterus for implantation.

Getting pregnant

The best time to go for a pregnancy test after conception is 11 to 14 days. According to the best gynaecologist in Kandivali, women must have enough hCG in the pee to get a positive pregnancy test via an at-home pregnancy test kit. Apart from that, if the result is negative, you can also consult a reputed healthcare provider to check pregnancy.
